Shame: 71-year-old gangraped in Bengal, now another nun kidnapped, manhandled in Mangaluru



Mangalore, March 17: When the country has been struggling to cope up with the news of 71-year-old nun gangrape case, another nun has been kidnapped and manhandled.However, she was lucky enough as she managed to escape before she too was raped. 
                  The latest incident took place in Mangaluru, Karnataka on Monday, March 16. The young nun, who is pursuing her nursing course in a city private hospital, was allegedly kidnapped and manhandled in a broad daylight by four men. 
                 All four assailants allegedly pushed her into an auto where they gagged and manhandled her. The young nun, however, jumped out of the auto and saved herself. She lost all her belongings - mobile phone, handbag, money, watch. She sustained minor injuries and later was admitted to a private hospital. 
                 Doctors informed that her condition is stable but the young nun is still in a state of shock. Meanwhile, reports claimed that Mangalore Police initially was reluctant to register complaint against unknown assailants. However, an FIR was filed later in the evening at Mangalore rural police station. 71-year-old nun gangraped in West Bengal: 
                The Mangalore incident once again proved that women are not safe in this country. Recently, a gang of robbers looted a convent school and gangraped the "oldest nun" present in the school. 
                West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee faced protest when she reached Ranaghat to meet the victim. She promised to take action against the culprits who are yet to be arrested. Mamata Banerjee was quoted as saying, "The sister is doing well. Some arrests have been made but we are looking for the mastermind. 
                 The borders are being monitored and if they have gone to other states, we will make arrangements to catch them." Meanwhile, there was uproar in Parliament over the nun gangrape case. Opposition party members raised questions why culprits have not been arrested so far.
