Education is Enabling One’s Development through Understanding of Concepts through Analysis Training, Investigating, Organizing and Nurturing.
Education forms an important part of an individual’s life. Let us see how the education system in India varies from those of other foreign countries.
Education system in India is quite different from the curriculum followed in other countries of the world. Education system in India focuses more on theory than other activities whereas countries like USA and Canada divide their syllabus into content practical as well as sports and other curricular activities like music, dance, drama and so on. There are many other systems followed by other countries. So let us discuss the system adopted by a few countries to understand the difference between them and the Indian Education System.
Starting with the United States, they divide their years of study into three stages: Elementary School, Middle School and High School. This concept builds a sense of progress in the kids from quite a young age. Every level the child crosses; it develops maturity and pride of growth in them. Wearing a particular school uniform every day is a practice followed very rarely in the States. Sports, music, theatre and camps also form a major part of the Educational concept of USA.
Australia follows quite a different method in terms of their Educational system. Australia is very famous and reputed for the Education pattern it follows. Like the States, Australia’s Educational years too are divided into three parts: The primary school, the secondary school and college. Australia gives great importance to sports like Cricket, Hockey, Boxing and offers scholarships to make the students ready for events like the Olympics making them the leaders in many games played in the world.
Education system in a gulf country like Dubai offers free primary and secondary education and makes it compulsory by law for all the children. They have many international universities set up so that the children can choose their comfortable subjects and complete their further education.
Unlike the states and Australia, the Gulf countries have Arabic as their medium language of syllabus and English is the secondary language. Education system there is not as competetive or challenging compared to the other countries or India.
Talking about the education system followed in India, it focusses mostly on theory and offers degrees in different fields which help children to aspire and take up relevant jobs in future. It has improved and developed on a huge scale from the time of Independence until today. According to statistics recorded, 80 percent of the Educational firms are Government based or recognised which is different from other countries of the world.
Educational years in India is divided into kindergarten, primary, secondary, college/ university level and finally post graduation. Due to the discrimination between men and women which was prominent in India in the past years, subjects like Home Science, Agriculture and regional dance and music have become a major part of Indian Education curriculum. Due to globalization and due to the fact that India consists of people from different castes and races, it has adopted the International method of Education which is provided by many private firms.
There are different patterns to choose from like the CBSE (Central Board Of Secondary Education), the ICSE (Indian Certificate of Secondary Education) or the personalized syllabus according to the different states of India. Each pattern comprises of different content and different ways of giving examinations to get certified. The rapid progress in the Indian Education System has resulted into many Indians becoming a part of world leading Organisations like NASA and United Nations.
Generalizing the concept, every system followed has its pros and cons. That is why the governing body of all the countries keep making constant changes in order to deliver more results to help shape a better future of the children.
